LOOKING FOR BETA READERS!
My book is about to start it’s final round of beta reading! If you’re looking for an LGBTQA+ Norse Myth retelling AND a polished beta experience, this might be the book for you!
Sigyn is done waiting. She’s going to do whatever it takes to earn her place with the other Gods. But she has no idea what events she’s about to set in motion, because the Trickster was exiled for a reason.
And she’s bringing him back.
***
The Goddess of Nothing At All brings readers a new perspective on Norse Mythology, from the eyes of Sigyn, the canon wife of Loki. It’s the story of a life spent searching for something more, and the highly imperfect man who promises a way out. With themes of love, loss, fate, betrayal, broken people, and a very LGBTQA+ cast, it digs deep and asks what life is like after Happily Ever After.
The book is a chonker at 170k words and 79 chapters. If you’re signing up for this beta you’ll be required to read an average of 8k words per week, plus answer the chapter questions. The process comes out to a 22 weeks. The faster you read, the shorter the process becomes. It’s also very dark and contains many adult subjects and situations.
For lots more details, including trigger warnings, representation, tropes, and information about the process, click the link below! Can’t read? Reblog!

DO IT.
Hey y'all!
It’s a green TBR! If you’ve seen my stories, then you know I was tagged in the TBR color stack challenge and that I chose 💚GREEN💚.
I usually never follow a TBR, but I went through my green books and chose those I hadn’t read yet. IF I were to ever follow a TBR, I think this would be my green dream team.
QOTD: Do you ever put together a TBR? How faithfully do you stick to it?

Hey y'all!
REVIEW: I devoured MEXICAN GOTHIC in a day. This gothic horror is a quick, fast-paced read that gives off a lot of CRIMSON PEAK vibes. The author does a nice job of planting clues throughout the novel as to what the twist is, as well as placing a few misleading Chekhov’s Guns, which I liked.
The setting of High Place is rich and dark and so cut off from the rest of Mexico and the vibrant 1950s Mexico City that sometimes I forgot the book was set in Mexico, which I didn’t like. Maybe I missed the point there because there were overtures made to play into colonizer/indigenous power struggle motif. Considering the ending, I wish that motif had been pushed harder.
Overall, a solid 4 out of 5. I’m definitely interested in picking up more of Moreno-Garcia’s work.
If you liked the gothic family haunting in BELOVED, the hidden family secrets trope in WHAT THE WOODS KEEP, or think Venom is creepy AF in SPIDER-MAN, then you’ll dig this book.

Hey y'all!
First and foremost, I entered a poetry contest hosted by @littleinfinitepoetry . The link to my poem is in my bio. I would LOVE if you voted for me! Voting ends at 11:59pm on Friday, July 31st. 🥰🥰🥰 Thank you!!
QOTD: Do you prefer to handwrite in a notebook or on a word processor?
AOTD: I honestly switch back and forth, but when I write in a notebook, I love using these babies I picked up at a local con last year.
Because I write poetry and I mess around with form and word placement a lot, sometimes it’s easier to hand write and see what it will look like. Sometimes I have to hand write because my toddler is sleeping next to me and my typing is too loud. Other times, I choose to hand write because my journals don’t have IG or discord, so I can’t get distracted. 😅😂
The rest of the time, I use google docs because it’s obviously easier to share drafts with my critique partners.

Hey y'all!
QOTD: If you were going to get a line from a book tattooed onto your body, which one would it be? Or! If you have one already, what is it??
AOTD: I have a few in mind, but I like the first line in SLAUGHTERHOUSE FIVE: “All of this happened, more or less.”
I’m getting ready to start MEXICAN GOTHIC and drink my coffee, but I had to snap this pic real quick because the Tolstoy and Walker quotes felt like they might apply to this book based on the things I’ve heard. You ever have a serendipitous mug moment like that?

Hey y'all!
I joined the Strangelings Book Club at @nowherebookshop and I was so excited to finally get to drive down and pick up my first book with them! @thebloggess has been a huge influence in my own mental health journey; she is an icon.
This month’s pick is MEXICAN GOTHIC by Silvia Moreno-Garcia. I know @bowtiesandbooks opinion on this one already, but I’m still going in. I need to know what the disgusting horror was at the end! Is it Crimson Peak level gross? Is it cannibalism? I DUNNO! I’m gunna find out.

Hey y'all!
Today is always a good day to show your pride!
QOTD: What are y'all looking forward to reading this month?
AOTD: I think it’s time for me to get SLAY and TRISTAN STRONG off my TBR. It just feels right, ya know?

Hey y'all!
QOTD: Has a book ever gotten you to look more deeply into a religion or mythos?
I find that knowing about a mythos or religion that’s featured in a book enhances my reading experience. It’s a huge reason why I loved CHILDREN OF BLOOD AND BONE so much when I first read it. Say what you want about the writing, but the world-building in conjunction with the Yoruba religion was *chef’s kiss*.
I actually first learned about this religion in college under Prof Matt Richardson in his Black Women’s Fiction class, which is where the excerpt in the 2nd photo came from. If you’re curious, the book this was excerpted from was FINDING SOUL ON THE PATH OF ORISA.
If you’re looking for more on how authors create stories within the worlds of different religions and mythos, I highly recommend the collab series @cat_rector and @ekinsellaauthor are doing on their youtube channels (link in bio).
